Donor Privacy Policy
Last Updated: April 30th, 2026
Veterans Legacy Collective is grateful for every contribution and is committed to protecting the privacy of every donor. This Donor Privacy Policy describes how we handle the personal and financial information of donors and supplements our Privacy Policy.
Our Commitment
We do not sell, rent, lease, trade, or share donor names, contact information, giving history, or any other donor information with any third party for marketing or fundraising purposes. This commitment applies to all donors — individuals, foundations, corporations, and others — regardless of gift size or frequency.
Information We Collect From Donors
When you make a donation, we collect the information necessary to process your gift and provide an acknowledgment, including your name, mailing address, email address, phone number, donation amount and frequency, payment information processed through our payment provider, and any tribute or dedication details you provide.
How We Use Donor Information
We use donor information only to process and acknowledge contributions; provide tax receipts and other documentation required by law; communicate with you about our mission, programs, events, and impact; respond to your questions and requests; and meet legal reporting obligations, including those required by the IRS and state charitable regulators.
Donor Recognition
We may publicly recognize donors — for example, in annual reports, on our website, or at events — only when the donor has consented to recognition or has provided information knowing it would be publicly acknowledged. Donors may request anonymity at any time, and we will honor that request.
Tax Receipts and Acknowledgments
Donors of $250 or more receive a written acknowledgment that complies with IRS substantiation requirements. Donors who give less than $250 will receive an acknowledgment for their records. Tax receipts include the legal name of Veterans Legacy Collective, our EIN, the donation amount and date, and confirmation that no goods or services were provided in exchange (where applicable).
Donor Choices
Donors may at any time request to be removed from our communications by clicking unsubscribe in any email, contacting us directly, or replying to any donor communication; request access to or correction of donor information we hold; or request anonymity for current or future contributions. To exercise these choices, contact us using the information at the bottom of this page.
Payment Processing
Donations are processed through reputable third-party payment processors that comply with industry security standards (including PCI DSS for credit card processing). Veterans Legacy Collective does not store full credit card numbers. Payment processors handle that information directly under their own security and privacy practices.
Restricted and In-Kind Gifts
Donors may direct contributions to specific programs or purposes, subject to our acceptance. Restricted gifts will be used only for the designated purpose. In-kind donations are reviewed for alignment with current program needs. We provide written acknowledgment for in-kind gifts but do not assign monetary value to them; donors are responsible for determining the value of in-kind contributions for tax purposes, in consultation with their own tax advisor.
Refund Policy
We process donations in good faith and consider all gifts final. If you believe a donation was made in error or processed incorrectly, please contact us within 30 days and we will work with you in good faith to resolve the issue.
No Paid Solicitors
Veterans Legacy Collective does not pay any individual or entity to solicit donations on our behalf. This includes professional solicitors, commercial co-venturers, third-party fundraising firms, contractors, consultants, and our own staff and employees. No staff member, contractor, or representative of Veterans Legacy Collective receives commissions, bonuses, percentage-based compensation, or any other form of payment tied to funds raised, donations received, or donor acquisition.
Veterans Legacy Collective currently operates entirely through volunteers and board members, none of whom are compensated for fundraising activity. To the extent Veterans Legacy Collective employs paid staff in the future, their compensation will be fixed and unrelated to fundraising results, consistent with the commitment above.
Donations are processed through trusted service providers (such as our payment processor) that charge standard transaction fees only. One hundred percent of every donation, after standard payment processing fees, is received by Veterans Legacy Collective and directed to our mission and operations.
